Professor Martin Bigg awarded Chartered Environmentalist of the Year

Professor Martin Bigg has been awarded Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) of the Year by the Society for the Environment (SocEnv).  He is currently Chair of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment’s (IEMA) Strategic Advisory Council and Professor of Environmental Technology Innovation at the University of the West of England, Bristol.

Among his many achievements, Martin has recently helped Bristol to achieve European Green Capital for 2015. He has also been said to show a continuing enthusiasm for environmental and sustainability skills.

His experience includes working as Head of Industry and Waste Regulation at the Environment Agency and also working in the chemical industry.

On receiving his award Martin said:

“I’m delighted to have received this award from Society for the Environment.  As a passionate advocate of high environmental and sustainability standards, it’s a great honour to receive such a prestigious accolade.”

As part of his role with IEMA, Martin has been able to share his knowledge with a wide range of people.
