HSE launch new MSD and manual handling online assessment tool

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has launched a new online assessment tool to assess musculoskeletal disorders (MSD) and manual handling.

This all-in-one digital solution sees an improvement from the HSE's MAC tool used to assess manual handling, by simplifying the process of each assessment.

Employers and safety representatives can use the new tool to assess the risks involved in manual handling, lifting and carrying activities. This will help them to categorise the risk involved and implement suitable control measures.

The management reports produced by the tool can help:

• track assessments that have been completed;
• identify priority areas and improvement tasks;
• support identification and common themes across numerous sites, locations and departments.

These management reports will allow those responsible for health and safety to see all the data they need in one place, reducing administrative burden and allow them to better understand priority areas.
