The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have published their Annual Report for 2013/2014. The HSE have continued this year to improve health and safety standards and drive behavioural change. Incidences of death, injury and ill health in the workplace are down according to statistics.
During 2013/2014 the HSE have secured 600 prosecutions with a 95% conviction rate. They have also served 3440 prohibition notices during this time.
Some of the key initiatives in the report include inspectors targeting high risk areas to develop new intervention strategies.
Not only have the HSE spent time improving other organisations, they have also looked internally and improved their own regulations. Making sure health and safety laws are more accessible and up to date, they have improved or removed over 80% of their regulations.
