The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has issued a request for 2013 tonnage returns to be submitted to them before 31 March 2014. All duty holders under Regulation (EC) 689/2008, on the export and import of dangerous chemicals, must inform a designated national authority of the actual quantities of substances listed in Annex 1 to that Regulation which they have exported or imported during 2013. The reporting requirement applies to all exports and imports made out of, or into, the EU.
Although Regulation (EC) 689/2008, will be recast on 1 March 2014, the annual tonnage return figures for 2013 are still due under that Regulation by the end of March.
As such, the HSE is requesting that duty holders contact them for further information about what is required and to submit their data.
