World Town Planning Day 2015

Professional planning organisations worldwide will be marking this year's World Town Planning Day with an online conference.

The event seeks to:

  • promote the aims, objectives and progress of urban and regional planning worldwide;
  • provide global coverage to the ideals of urban and regional planning both within the profession and among the general public;
  • highlight the valuable contributions made to the quality of global settlements and their environment by sound planning.

This year the focus will be upon housing generation - strengthening communities. Concerns over affordable housing have arisen across the globe from the Western world to Asia, Africa and the Pacific, this in turn has created questions over urban policy that need to be addressed.

The online conference aims to showcase and celebrate plans and policies that have achieved measurable improvements towards housing regeneration in the face of increasing challenges. Sessions will investigate the topics of governance, financial housing, social inclusiveness, place-centred regeneration, health and housing, disaster recovery and community resilience.

The conference runs from Wednesday 4 November until Friday 6 November.

Editor's note

We are delighted to announce that in the near future Cedrec will be launching a brand new product focused on town and country planning legislation. Like we do with environment and safety, the new product contains fully consolidated full text legislation relating to planning and every document comes with a plain English summary to help you avoid that complicated legal jargon.

Stay tuned for further announcements.
