Energy firms, SSE, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) and SDIC Power have been given licence to begin manufacturing and constructing a £2.6 billion, 588-megawatt wind farm in Outer Moray Firth consisting of 84 turbines.
The Beatrice Offshore Wind Farm Ltd. (BOWL), as it is called, was given consent from the Scottish Government in March 2014 and was granted an investment contract by the UK Government in May 2014.
The construction work is expected start in 2017 and due to be fully operational in 2019.
Paul Cooley, director of renewables at SSE, anticipates that up to 65 jobs will be created during construction and 90 long term jobs during the operational phase.
