Father Christmas has gone green this Christmas in a Wyevale garden centre in Chichester and travelled to his grotto in an environmentally-friendly pedal-powered cab.
Centre manager, Colin Butler said, "Having our Santa arrive in this eco-friendly manner and not having a petrol-driven mode of transport demonstrates our on-going commitment to working towards improving environmental and social issues, and our focus as a business on people, plants and the planet."
Mr Butler added, "It is a lovely vehicle. Santa really enjoyed his trip and the children who saw him arrive in the pedicab found it all very magical indeed."
However, Santa arrived at a rival garden chain centre, Dobbies, in Southport by helicopter. Santa then stepped into a more traditional sleigh pulled by snow dogs and reindeer before taking up residence in his garden centre grotto.
Jacqui Schober-Thomson, events co-ordinator, said, "The helicopter landing worked really well in the end, as the car park was a big enough landing space."
