Safety's in the bag for Tetley Tea thanks to Cedrec

The company behind the world famous Tetley Tea brand is improving its safety compliance after subscribing to online legal services from specialists Cedrec.

Tata Global Beverages uses the monthly safety bulletin, alongside an online subscription, written by Cedrec’s team of legal authors to stay abreast of health and safety legislation for its Tetley Tea factory at Eaglescliffe on Teesside, which employs over 300 people.

These services explain in simple, easy-to-understand terms the implications of changes to COSHH, REACH, LOLER, and Working Time, as well as a host of other compliance requirements impacting on workplace health and safety.

Cedrec specialises in providing organisations such as Tata with expert advice in understanding, interpreting and complying with safety legislation and guidance, and offers a range of specialist consultancy and subscription services.

Louise Wilkie, food safety and compliance technician at Tata, said it’s critical that the company’s compliance team remains up-to-date with the implications of any changes to legislation, so using Cedrec has been instrumental in helping her to achieve this.

“We are constantly monitoring for new regulations or revisions to existing legislation, which can be a very difficult and time consuming process.

“Cedrec’s bulletins and summaries, which are written in a way that makes legislation simple, are an incredibly useful tool in explaining the implications, linking us directly to the relevant legislation for further information.

“We can track and note legislation amendments or changes in a way that’s really easy-to-understand by those with responsibility for health and safety, seeing at a glance how these can impact on our factory operations.

“All this ensures that those with responsibility are far more aware of the legislation and better armed with the right advice that can be applied in their day-to-day work.”

Improved knowledge and insight thanks to Cedrec is also enabling Tata to track in advance legislation to ensure any necessary changes are proactively implemented ahead of time as part of a wide review of working practices which takes place on a quarterly basis.

“This makes for a much happier and safer workplace environment for employees,” added Louise Wilkes.
