A ship believed to be carrying radioactive concrete to Antwerp, Belgium, reported a fire off the coast of Scotland.
The fire caused an evacuation of 52 people from a nearby oil platform, however 15 people stayed on board the ship itself.
The ship was permitted to drift whilst a tow was dispatched to get the ship under control.
The Irish Times report that the fire has since been extinguished.
Cedrec's take
Quite possibly the worst case scenario, radioactive material, ablaze, drifting near an oil platform. Thankfully, however, the ship was brought under control and the fire put out. Hopefully there are no further consequences of this, and so far no injuries have been reported. A lucky escape!
