Reports are surfacing that Donald Trump is looking at options to withdraw the US from the Paris Agreement.
The agreement, which reached the required amount of ratification on 5 October 2016 to enter into force on 4 November 2016, sees countries involved committing to a global warming limit of 2C.
The agreement also sets out long term goals to achieve zero emissions.
Donald Trump, long known as a climate change denier, is allegedly considering ways to "bypass" the four year procedure to leave the agreement.
These options include withdrawing from a convention from 1992 which enables the Paris Agreement, therefore voiding US involvement, or issuing a presidential order to revoke the US signature from the Paris accord.
US Secretary for State, John Kerry, has stated he will continue to implement the Paris Agreement until current President, Barack Obama, leaves office on 20 January 2017.
