Volunteers are being sought to get involved this Christmas by cutting down unwanted trees in the shadow of Ben Nevis in return for a free Christmas tree to take home.
The Forestry Commission and Nevis Partnership Programme have teamed up for this free Christmas tree event, which will occur on the 13 December 2014.
The Nevis Partnership Programme is a scheme aiming to get the public involved with the natural and cultural environment of both Ben and Glen Nevis.
The clearance of these trees is part of a five year restructuring programme. This programme is aiming to clear non-native species in order to allow native species to naturally regenerate. It is also hoped this will encourage local wildlife.
A spokesperson for the partnership said: "As part of our pinewood restoration project, we need to clear non-native species that are endangering our home grown Glen Nevis trees. It just so happens they make pretty good Christmas trees."
The event will be held at Glen Nevis Visitor Centre between 10am and 2pm on 13 December 2014. Anyone wishing to volunteer to cut down trees may need to contact the partnership before this date to book a place.
