New GPP Guidance on treatment and disposal of wastewater

New Guidance for Pollution Prevention (GPP4) provides information on the appropriate public or private treatment and disposal of wastewater where there is no connection to the public foul sewer.

This Guidance applies only to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. It focuses on the methods of water treatment and disposal systems without a sewer connection, and provides examples of different methods of domestic-like wastewater treatment systems, such as package sewage treatment plants (PSTP), septic tanks, infiltration systems and composting toilets.

It also provides information on the appropriate design, building, installation and maintenance of the water treatment system.
