This month is national fork lift truck safety month with the aim of encouraging employees to speak up when they see danger.
Statistics show that fork lift trucks are by far the most dangerous type of workplace transport.
Companies that operate fork lift trucks are also being urged to put in place changes to give workers more freedom to report bad practice in a blame free environment.
Failure to highlight and correct unsafe conditions inevitably leads to accidents which may sometimes end in traumatic injuries and even fatalities. Last year alone fork lift trucks were involved in no fewer than 800 accidents.
Fork lift truck safety month is being launched by the Fork Lift Truck Association, who will be presenting and discussing practical ways to encourage a good attitude towards safety at any site operating one or more folk lift trucks.
