Plymouth City Council, South Hams District Council, and West Devon Borough Council are working together to compose and produce a proposed Plymouth and South West Devon Joint Local Plan.
The three organisations have a long history of working together and this plan will bring together all the work that has been done separately by the three councils. It will also focus on bigger issues that affects all their areas including designation of where homes and roads should be built and how to ensure economic growth in the area.
Some benefits of joint local plans include a more efficient use of resources, skills and budgets.
The statements provided from leaders of the respected councils showed the need for an overall housing strategy and meeting housing needs in the area as well as employment and economic needs.
