The release of ISO 14001:2015 is almost upon us. After a near unanimous vote by ISO members approval has been given to the revised ISO 14001 standard. The revised edition has received much support and offers proactive organisations the opportunity to embrace environmental sustainability and add value to their business.
The growing emphasis on sustainability is addressed in the new ISO standard along with improved supply chain engagement. Organisations must develop an enhanced tool set in order to improve and sustain their environmental performance. This entails management drive and commitment, integrated management, focused communication and better strategic planning. The standard seeks to ensure that businesses go beyond achieving legislative compliance and also strive to maintain their environmental obligations.
ISO 14001:2015 is due to be published on 15 September.
