Green Deal Home Improvement Fund has massive success in first week

The Green Deal Home Improvement Fund (GDHIF) has had great success in the first week of its new changes, issuing £2.61m to households.

In May changes were announced to the Green Deal since which 1 736 new applications have been made. Up to £50m is available to customers at the current rate for one year.

Customers making energy saving improvements can be offered £7600 to offset the cost of developments to households in England and Wales.

Funds are available for wall insulation, double glazing, floor insulation and replacement doors.

Ed Davey, Energy and Climate Secretary, feels the new changes are positive. He commented:

"We've changed the Green Deal to make it simpler and faster for people to make their homes more energy efficient. I want as many people as possible to benefit from this unmissable offer. It won't be around forever, so sign up now and get your home ready for the winter."
