Love it or loath it, most of our environmental and safety legislation is driven by Europe.
The Conservatives' election manifesto agreed to hold a referendum by the end of 2017 on whether the UK should stay in the European Union. Their victory in May has pushed this promise to the forefront of politics, and it now looks possible that a vote could take place in May 2016.
We last voted on the EU back in 1975, or the Common Market as it was called back then. But there have been calls for a new referendum from politicians and the public due to how things have changed over the past 40 years, such as its expansion and more controls over our daily lives.
We'd love to hear where you stand. Should we be in or out of the EU?
