Farmer death tragedy

To further emphasise the potential dangers of farm and agricultural work, a close-knit rural community in County Tyrone has been left devastated following the sudden death of a farmer in a slurry accident on Wednesday 14 February. The farmer died shortly after 1:00pm after becoming caught in machinery at his Donaghmore farm, at Pomeroy Road, Dungannon. The 61 year old was spreading slurry at the time, when he became caught up in the spinning rotation bar at the rear of the tractor.

Inspectors of the Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSE NI) are currently carrying out an investigation into the exact circumstances of the incident.
