Approval for CDM Regulations

This month, the Health and Safety Commission (HSC) has approved the proposed revised Construction (Design and Management) Regulations and the Approved Code of Practice for formal submission to the Minister. The Regulations will revise and consolidate the provisions of the current Construction (Design and Management) Regulations SI 1994/3140 and the Construction (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations SI 1996/1592, in order to form a single regulatory package.

Head of Construction Policy, Richard Boland said, "I am delighted that the revised regulatory package has been approved by the HSC, and we are still on target for the Regulations coming into force in April next year. Over the last four years we have worked in partnership with the industry to simplify and add clarity to construction health and safety law so that on-site risks can be properly managed. We will continue to work together to make sure that the new provisions improve standards of health and safety management in our industry.
