50m fund to deliver properties for homeless

Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has made plans to help house homeless people needing to move from hostels and refuges through a £50m fund to deliver properties.

Some of the people benefiting from the plan will include homeless people who are ready for independent living.

The fund is available as part of the Mayor's £3.15 billion affordable housing programme.

The accommodation on offer will run on two year tenancies to homeless people ready to move into houses of their own.

Khan has spoken out saying: "Rising levels of homelessness and rough sleeping in London are beyond shameful in one of the richest cities in the world and it's a sad fact that for years some of London's most vulnerable people have been let down and ignored."
