More than £330,000 compensation has been paid for injuries in schools by Lincolnshire County Council from 2008-2014.
These figures were exposed after a BBC freedom of information request.
Pay-outs as high as £60,000 have been awarded for "a series of injuries whilst at work".
Some of the more interesting claims have included compensation given for a book falling on a foot and a trapped thumb. Both of these claims ended in compensation of around £3,500.
Another claim involved a teacher being awarded £4,000 when a stool broke, almost leading to a fall.
David Morgan, representative for teaching union NASUWT, commented "In any system there will be spurious claims, but we need to look beyond that and look at the overall picture."
"Unless things are done to improve matters the health and safety of our students and teachers is going to be put at risk."
