The Great British Beach Clean is this weekend!

This Great British Beach Clean starts this weekend and runs from 15 to 24 September, where people across the UK head to the coast to take part.

Litter data collected on beach cleans drives the Marine Conservation Society's conservation work, and helps them to campaign for change, and feeds into the International Coastal Clean-up (ICC).

This data has been used to make a positive impact on the ocean, including:

• the introduction of the plastic bag charge;
• banning microplastics in personal care products;
• better wet wipe labelling; and
• supporting a tax on single-use plastic items.

How to get involved

It is easy to get involved, either by finding a beach clean near you or organise your own. The Marine Conservation Society has lots of guides and resources available to help you get set up.
