World Water Week (25-29 August) started on Sunday, and is centered on water cooperation, for peace and security in its broadest sense.
Established in 1991, World Water Week is the leading annual conference on global water issues. It is a meeting place for everyone who wants to understand how water can help us address the world's greatest challenges.
World Water Week is held during the last week of August every year and was initially part of a public water festival in Stockholm.
This years theme is "Bridging Borders: Water for a Peaceful and Sustainable Future", which asks us to recognise the regional and global interconnectivity of communities and nations, and underscores the collaborative effort needed to achieve a peaceful and sustainable future.
