Net Zero Week starts tomorrow (Saturday 5 July), which is the UK's official national awareness week and the biggest net zero conference.
It brings together all the stakeholders needed to reach net zero by 2050, and to ensure Britain's energy is both secure and affordable.
The government and industry backed initiative is marking its fifth anniversary in July 2025.
The aim is to do more than just raise awareness, it is about encouraging real action across every part of the society. The main goals include:
Everything is focused on moving the UK towards a cleaner, greener future.
People and actions
Net Zero Week is ultimately about people and actions:
It is people who matter:
Rt Hon Chris Skidmore OBE, said: "Net zero provides the greatest opportunity of our lifetime to enhance our energy transition in a way which will secure a warmer and brighter future. We simply do not have the time to waste and must seize the opportunities of net zero to avoid the challenges others will face for being not zero. Our environment and our future depend on our actions now and Net Zero Week is the perfect way to highlight these opportunities".
Rt Hon Greg Clark, said: "Climate change is the single greatest challenge facing mankind. The UK is leading the world in rising to this challenge and can take pride in being a nation that is not just showing ambition but one which holds a record to match. We all have a stake in this and I applaud the efforts of individuals, organisations and initiatives like Net Zero Week in highlighting the importance of this vital work".
