This week marks Global Wind Day

Global Wind Day (15 June) takes place this week, celebrating the power and potential of wind energy while raising awareness of its critical role in tackling climate change and accelerating the global transition to clean energy.

The campaign, coordinated by WindEurope and the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), shines a spotlight on the environmental, economic, and social benefits of wind energy. As countries around the world seek to meet their net zero targets, wind power is playing an increasingly vital role in reducing emissions, enhancing energy security, and creating green jobs.

Global Wind Day features events, educational campaigns, and public engagement activities across the globe. It also highlights career opportunities in the sector through its Working in Wind initiative, aimed at encouraging young people and professionals to consider roles in engineering, project development, operations, and sustainability.

In the UK, Global Wind Day coincides with preparations for Global Offshore Wind 2025, RenewableUK’s flagship conference and exhibition taking place in London. The event will bring together industry leaders, innovators, and policymakers to discuss the future of offshore wind and explore new technologies and investment opportunities.

Wind energy is already delivering clean power to millions of homes and businesses worldwide, but its potential is still largely untapped. Global Wind Day calls on governments, communities, and individuals to support the growth of this vital resource and ensure a greener, more resilient energy future for all.

Global Wind Day is a timely reminder of the vital role wind energy plays in building a cleaner, more sustainable future for all.
