CLP Annex 8 to be adopted in Great Britain

The UK Department for Health and Social Care has decided to adopt Annex 8 to the EU Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) of Substances and Mixtures Regulation 1272/2008 into the Retained CLP in Great Britain.

Annex 8 sets out the harmonised information relating to emergency health response and preventative measures.

The National Poisons Information Service, the UK's appointed receiving body for poison centre notifications, has advised that organisations that have placed mixtures for consumer or professional use in Great Britain since 1 January 2021 now need to submit mandatory poison centre notifications in the Annex 8 harmonised format.

What this means

It is now mandatory to submit poison centre notifications in Great Britain. If you chose not to notify previously, you now need to do so to remain compliant.

You will need to re-submit any poison centre notifications made since 1 January 2021 in Annex 8 harmonised format to be compliant.

If you have already submitted safety information for Northern Ireland for an identical product sold in Great Britain, then those will be considered as notified.
