Fixed penalties for environmental offences to be reviewed

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) has launched a consultation into a review of fixed penalties for environmental offences and the introduction of civil penalties for littering from vehicles outside London.

The proposals effectively raise the fixed penalties for environmental offences, which have not changed since 2006. They also aim to introduce provisions that allow all local authorities in England to take enforcement action against littering offences from vehicles.
