Clean Air Bill progresses to next stage

The Clean Air (Human Rights) Bill has passed the Committee Stage in the House of Lords unopposed.

If it becomes an Act of Parliament, it will enshrine the right to clean air in law.

Main aims of the Bill

The Bill aims to:

  • establish the right to breathe clean air;
  • require the Secretary of State to achieve and maintain clean air in England and Wales;
  • involve the UK Health Security Agency in setting and reviewing pollutants and their limits;
