Responsible Actors Scheme Regulations for residential buildings published

The Building Safety (Responsible Actors Scheme and Prohibitions) Regulations SI 2023/753 have now been published. They establish a Responsible Actors Scheme (RAS) which requires eligible developers to identify and remediate life-critical fire safety defects in residential buildings over 11m in height that were developed or refurbished between 5 April 1992 and 4 April 2022.

Background

Following the Grenfell Tower fire in 2017, the Government set out a series of fire safety reforms, notably through the Building Safety Act 2022.
