Fire Safety England Regulations and Guidance come into force

The Fire Safety (England) Regulations SI 2022/547 came into force on 23 January 2023 and implemented the majority of the recommendations made by the Grenfell Tower Inquiry in its Phase 1 report, which required a change in the law.

The 2022 Regulations were made under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order SI 2005/1541, and impose new duties on "responsible persons" regarding the areas the Fire Safety Act 2021 clarified within the scope of the 2005 Order, such as:

• structure;
• external walls, including cladding and balconies; and
• individual flat entrance doors...
