HSE coronavirus update on air conditioning
Published: 22 May 2020

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have issued a notice on air conditioning in relation to the coronavirus pandemic.

They recommend that if you use a centralised ventilation system that removes and circulates air to different rooms, you turn off recirculation and use a fresh air supply. Other types of air-conditioning systems do not need to be adjusted.

The HSE stress that the risk of coronavirus spreading through air conditioning is extremely low.

Good ventilation is encouraged in order to help reduce the risk of spreading coronavirus.

Anyone unsure about issues regarding their air-conditioning system should speak to their heating ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) engineers.
