This Act applies primarily to England, Scotland and Wales, with the following sections applying to Northern Ireland:
- emissions etc. limits and quality objectives;
- special provision with respect to certain dangerous or intractable waste;
- other controls on substances, articles or waste;
- powers to prohibit or restrict the importation or exportation of waste;
- powers to obtain information about potentially hazardous substances;
- financial assistance for environmental purposes.
