Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations SI 2009/890
These Regulations begin to come into force on 5 May 2009 and apply to England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
They establish the scope of "producer responsibility" which requires producers of batteries and accumulators to take responsibility for separately collecting and recycling batteries and accumulators once they become waste.
As a result they implement part of Retained Reference Directive 2006/66, on batteries and accumulators and waste batteries and accumulators.
