European Communities (Greenhouse Gas Emissions Trading) Regulations SI 490/2012
These Regulations came fully into operation on 1 January 2013 and apply to Ireland only.
Legislative Background
These Regulations implement Directive 2009/29/EC, which amended Directive 2003/87/EC so as to improve and extend the greenhouse gas emission allowance trading scheme of the Community. Directive 2009/29/EC aims to improve and extend the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) and to provide for a more efficient, more harmonised and fairer system.
