Electricity Regulation Act 1999

The Act provides for the establishment of the Commission for Electricity Regulation to manage the regulation of the electricity market.
It contains specific requirements in relation to:
- the establishment of the Commission for Electricity Regulation;
- the regulation of petroleum activities;
- licences and authorisations to generate and supply electricity;
- appeal panels;
- access to transmission and distribution systems;
- public service obligations and transitional arrangements;
- emergency measures in event of sudden crisis; and
- carbon revenue levy.
