These Regulations came into operation on 1 July 2008 and apply to Ireland only.

They were made by the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government under the European Communities Act 1972 and the Waste Management Act 1996 in order to give effect to:

• Directive 2006/12/EC on waste;
• Regulation (EC) 1013/2006 on shipments of waste;
• Directive 1999/31/EC on the landfill of waste; and
• Directive 2003/35/EC providing for public participation in respect of the drawing up of certain plans and programmes relating to the...
