European Union (Batteries and Accumulators) Regulations SI 283/2014

The Regulations impose obligations on those who supply batteries to the Irish market for the first time, either as an importer, manufacturer or retailer.
They contain specific provisions on the:
- prohibition on marketing of batteries containing specified hazardous substances and inappropriately labelled batteries;
- registration body;
- management of waste batteries;
- approved bodies; and
- functions of the environmental protection agency and local authorities.
