The Order sets out exactly what development can take place in England without the need for planning permission. However, these permitted development rights are subject to strict conditions and limitations that must be met before the development can be carried out. If the conditions and limitations cannot be met, planning permission should be applied for.
The aim of the Order is to make the planning system quicker, allowing small uncontentious developments to be carried out without permission. These permitted developments and the conditions and limitations to such are set out in Schedule 2 to the Order.
