Pipelines Safety Regulations (Northern Ireland) SR 1997/193 - Schedule 3

Schedule 3 of the Pipelines Safety Regulations (Northern Ireland) SR 1997/193 sets out the requirements for emergency shut-down valves.
The requirements are as follows:
- an emergency shut-down valve must be incorporated in the riser of a pipeline:
- in a position in which it can be safely inspected, maintained and tested, and
- so far as this is consistent with the sub-paragraph above, as far down the riser as is reasonably practicable;
and such a valve must comply with the following requirements;
- an emergency shut-down valve must be held open by an electrical, hydraulic or other signal to the mechanism for actuating...
