European Council to discuss EU referendum results

On Tuesday 28 June the European Council are set to have their first informal meeting to discuss the leave result of the UK referendum on EU membership.

This will be the first opportunity Prime Minister David Cameron has had to explain the situation in the UK. He is not expected to formally notify the EU of the decision to leave which would begin withdrawal negotiations. At the moment it remains undetermined precisely when this will happen.

On Wednesday 29 June, the 27 Heads of State or Government will have an informal meeting to discuss the political and practical implications of the UK's vote to leave. This meeting will not involve UK participation.

It is anticipated that the withdrawal process set out under Article 50 of the Treaty of the European Union will be discussed and that the future of the EU without the UK as a member will be reflected upon.

Here at Cedrec we will be closely monitoring the progress of the UK's exit from the EU to keep you fully up-to -date.

The coming months will reveal what precise changes in legislation will occur, what might go and what might stay, but rest assured we will track these changes and ensure you know what is happening to help you continue to be aware of your legal requirements.

We have created a document on the withdrawal process specifically to ensure you are kept informed. Add this to your favourites and we'll keep you up-to-date with changes as they occur.
