Arsenal bottle it - in a good way
Published: 13 Jul 2012

As Arsenal reveal their new away kit for the 2012/2013 football season, its not just the "regal" colour that is getting people talking. The kit, manufactured by Nike, is apparently one of the most environmentally friendly football kits available!

The purple and black hooped kit is made from a ground-breaking recycled polyester which means that each kit, which comprises the shirt and shorts, is made of thirteen recycled plastic water bottles. In addition, the manufacturing process that Nike are using to produce the shirt reduces energy consumption by up to 30% compared to the process of manufacturing traditional polyester.

Its not just Arsenal who will be sporting the environmentally friendly kit this season. Nike have also produced a football kit using the same recycling technique for Juventus, whilst Everton's new home kit is made of 100% recycled material.

So, next time you recycle a water bottle, do it in the knowledge that the stars of Arsène Wenger's team could be wearing it in the near future.
