The Chemicals Regulation Directorate was formed on 1 April 2009 from a merger of the Pesticides Safety Directorate and other relevant parts of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), notably the Chemicals Assessment Schemes Unit (CASU), to form a new integrated chemicals regulation function.
