This Act received Royal Assent on 7 April 2011 and applies to Scotland only.

It updates legislation protecting Scottish wildlife and ensures legislation which regulates and manages the natural environment is fit for purpose. In particular, this Act seeks to:

• modernise game law;
• abolish the designation of areas of special protection;
